Family Camp
Family Camp for our church was this last weekend which is why I was unable to post anything. It's somewhat nice to not have connection to internet for a few days and be phone free. Every summer our church, Silver Creek Family Church, goes to Lake Entiat for a few days. We go to a water park, the lake, have baptisms, play games, and watch movies at night if we can stay awake.
It was my first time going to Family Camp and seeing the other side of the mountains; Lake Entiat and Lake Chelan. I guess they are more still "in the mountains" than really on the other side but it really was a beautiful spot to be in.
The kids got to play with other church kids outside of church and Sunday School and Heidi got to rest and hang out with other gals she mostly just sees at church. I, well I made sure everyone else was happy.
The food served was very delicious and not your typical camp food fare. We thought "hot dogs, hamburgers, spaghetti" you know, easy camp with a lot of people stuff. But we had fried chicken, steak, vegetables, and all around really good food. Thanks to the chef and kitchen crew for wonderful meals.
Family Camp was a good experience for all of us. The kids had fun and are still so tired and worn out. Until next year.

Skate Park
I took Gabe to the skate park in Edmonds today. Man I wish there were skate parks when I was growing up. I remember skating a lot as a teen but we only had roads and people telling us to leave areas where we had obstacles. It's cool to see cities setting things up like skate parks, water parks, and having cool parks for kids to play on now. If my knees were any better I'd take Gabe's board for a spin but I might have to get a scooter and call it good at my age. :)

Friday, July 29 ISA Praises
Thank you for all the prayers we had for ISA this week. The soccer camp (International Soccer Academy) went really well with lots of happy soccer campers.
Thank you to all of the coaches who came out to help with the camp. We couldn't have done it without all of you and your hard work. Thanks to Clayton for being the soccer head coach. You did a great job.

Little dude
Had a great night last night ice skating with my little dude. He skated for almost 3 hours. It was his second time ever ice skating and my second time since 2001 on skates. I miss skating and playing hockey!
For most of the day on Friday we, Silver Creek Family Church, had a conference for the soccer coaches for International Soccer Academy. We had two sets of worship times and three speakers talking about different aspects of missions and ministry. Hopefully the kids listened and got something out of it. They are vital to the camp running next week and the kids from the community attending learning about soccer and God.
Saturday saw the return of our pastor and his family from their vacation. They are here safe and sound after what sounded like a wonderful time to get away and have fun as a family.
Tonight at a staff dinner we had talks about politics and different things going on in the world and around us. Thankfully though some of us on staff have different political views we can discuss and come back to Jesus/God. Thankfully we have God to turn to in times like this because things around us are so polarized and done with selfish intent. Please pray for not only the current leaders but those who are running and will be elected. We discussed the difficult job of trying to work in the political realm but also holding on to beliefs and morals of being a Christian. Pray for our leaders even if we do not agree with them. Pray for peace.
I'm heading to bed. Big day tomorrow with my friend Mike Jorgensen coming into town from Minnesota. We're heading up to Vancouver after church to see The Tragically Hip in their farewell tour. First time I saw them was I believe May 30, 1993 in Somerset, WI and I lost count how many time I've seen them live since then.

Day One of the Return
Day one of the return has ended. At church we were able to get some stuff done for International Soccer Academy (ISA) and get the church ready for Sunday. Please remember ISA in your prayers next week as over 70 kids come to play soccer and learn about God. We have coaches coming in from different areas for training tomorrow, Friday. It's going to be fun.
Heidi and I just joined the Lynnwood Rec Center and went there for the first time tonight. Please keep Heidi in your prayers as she works through her health situation when exercising. She really wants to be healthy but her body shuts down a lot. Please please pray for her.
I'll fill out some prayer requests and praises and see you all tomorrow.

Dusting it off
I started this blog many years ago because people would send me prayer requests via e-mail and they'd either get lost with all of my junk e-mails or I'd read it at work and regretfully forget to write it down when I got home. I was looking for a one stop location for me to pray for people and have people leave prayer requests. Unfortunately I couldn't even keep this going on a regular basis. I hope to change that now by starting it up again.
I recently returned from a short trip to El Salvador to visit our sister church. I currently attend Silver Creek Family Church in Lynnwood, WA where I also work as the Missions Director, www.silvercreekfamily.org.
Honestly, I've never been good at praying consistently. Many times I don't know what to pray because I don't want it to sound like a bunch of requests. But we all need prayer for something.
So, I know I'm way late to the game but I'd like to start blogging daily with a focus on prayer and praise. You are welcome to add a prayer request or praise each day and especially pray for those who do.
Thank you
