I've always liked the story of the Ninevites praying to God and receiving compassion after hearing of their intended destruction. And admired our sister church in El Salvador watching them pray with passion. I hope to capture some of that here where we can share prayer requests. Shiends comes from when my kids were young and just starting to talk. They both had sleeping friends but couldn't say friends and kept saying "shiends". So "shiends" has been in our vocabulary ever since.
Having a baby sister is a BIG adjustment for Ivan. Unfortunately he showed up at his first meeting w/ her eating milk from “his” breasts. Ivan seems to try and test our authority more theses days.
ReplyDeleteThings have been rough in the evening trying to put both the baby & Ivan to sleep. I try to put Sophia down before Ivan, so I can spend some time with him exclusively, but he often comes in loudly right when she’s falling asleep and I have to start the process all over again. He doesn’t understand that if he waits he will have mommy to himself. Alex is trying to get Ivan to sleep in another bedroom so that Sophia can have the crib & I only have to worry about one child at night. The process of putting Ivan to sleep includes an hour or so of him screaming while Alex stays with him in the other bedroom. Sometimes he still sneaks back to me in the middle of the night. Once he’s asleep I start my late night feeding & diaper routine which usually keeps me up with Sophie until 3 or 4am.
Please pray for Alex too. I think he is overwhelmed with work, helping me with household things, and Ivan's intensified tantrums. Alex also does not function well when he doesn't get X amount of sleep. May God give him rest, wisdom, and freedom from depression or feelings of inadequacy.
Hey Pam, I will for sure be praying for you both now with 2 youngins. It is difficult as they both need and strive for your attention. I will pray for Ivan's young heart to be comforted by either you or Alex and when he's with one he doesn't scream for the other, as what happened this morning with my son Gabe. Heidi's gone so he doesn't want me but screams for her for awhile; and vice versa when I'm gone. I will pray for Alex as he now juggles with the issues at work and saving energy when he comes home at night. And you, man, I pray you get sleep, rest, and comfort when you need and when you don't. If I may say, don't worry too much about the state of the house right now; cluttery, dirty dishes, clothes, etc. When you get a chance to rest and sleep, rest and sleep; don't try and clean everything around you. That's my order for the day and beyond! :)
