I've always liked the story of the Ninevites praying to God and receiving compassion after hearing of their intended destruction. And admired our sister church in El Salvador watching them pray with passion. I hope to capture some of that here where we can share prayer requests. Shiends comes from when my kids were young and just starting to talk. They both had sleeping friends but couldn't say friends and kept saying "shiends". So "shiends" has been in our vocabulary ever since.
The father of our friend Sergei (NOT Prokopov) in Sevastopol died recently. Please pray that the family turns to God in their grief, and that they find his grace comfort sustaining.
ReplyDeleteI heard today that a man was just pulled alive from the rubble in Haiti after 4 weeks. They don't give him a good chance to live. Please pray that God shows his awesome power by sustaining this man and healing his body, and that people will turn to God because of this and other miracles he is doing.
ReplyDeleteA strange thing happened to Alex at work today. He did some testing for a project and created a report for this meeting. At the meeting, the higher ups were undecided on what to do. After they left, Alex's direct manager walked up to him and asked him "If your job were at stake, what would you recommend we do?" Alex didn't know if that was a veiled threat. He didn't know if he gave a recommendation that ended up not working if it would mean his job. So he simply said "I'm not answering that question". Please pray that God protect his job and that he find favor with his manager and others above him; that if this was a misunderstanding that God would clear it up with no hard feelings. And pray that Alex will not live in fear, but with a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline.
ReplyDeleteI'm home sick with a temp 99.2-100.2 degrees and an entire body that aches. I need to be back to my normal self so I can take care of Eli this afternoon when Dave heads to work. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteHey Pam; wow, there was a lot to think about yesterday for you and Alex. I will pray for Sergei's family in this time of needed comfort. God, we also pray for your grace and mercy be shown in a way entirely visible to Sergei and his family so they would turn their hearts and minds to you. Amen.
ReplyDeleteHaiti; though it's still is in the news a little it is not getting the attention it still needs. A friend of mine who works for the Evangelical Free Church is heading there today, Tuesday, with a team bringing supplies and doing some work. Our church has a member whose sister works at an orphanage there so we were able to have a direct link to Haiti during a time of giving. To hear that a man survived after 4 weeks is incredible and is truly a miracle. God, we pray for this man that he be an instrument of your power and grace so that he and others turn to you in wholeness. We still pray for Haiti and its people. Amen
ReplyDeleteAnd Alex's job; I will pray it wasn't a test to keep his job but a "test" to see truly what he would have picked to do because they likes his results. God, I pray for Alex and what is going on with work for him. I pray for your arm of protection over him and for your mercy and grace to extend to his managers and supervisors that they see his great worth in the workplace and see how hard he works. I pray today is a good day for Alex at work and if there was any miscommunication it turn into understanding. God Bless Alex with comfort and calmness of heart and mind. Thank you for Alex.
ReplyDeleteHey Megan; man, sick is not cool so I will definitely pray for you. I will tell Heidi so she can pray also. Heidi is sick also with mono; yes, that's right, mono. I stayed home today to be with the family and slept until 8:15, which NEVER happens. Megan, I pray for you and pray that God touches you, heals you, and gives you relief, strength, and the desire to be with and take care of Eli today. God Bless you, Megan, and I will pray throughout the day for your health.
