I've always liked the story of the Ninevites praying to God and receiving compassion after hearing of their intended destruction. And admired our sister church in El Salvador watching them pray with passion. I hope to capture some of that here where we can share prayer requests. Shiends comes from when my kids were young and just starting to talk. They both had sleeping friends but couldn't say friends and kept saying "shiends". So "shiends" has been in our vocabulary ever since.
I just called Alex. He said he thinks still has a job. He said he saw a "secret" copy of the org chart that still had his name on it. He didn't go into how he saw that chart, but it's encouraging news, since they haven't released anything official yet.
ReplyDeleteAlex's new VP had a teleconference with his dept on Friday promising no layoffs for today, but management hasn't been totally honest or open in recent months, so Alex didn't put much confidence in his words.
The quarterly statement coming out in a few weeks will most likely cause more layoffs if the profit margin the management wants hasn't been met. Pelco is making a profit currently, but it hasn't been enough to satisfy the new management.
We will just keep praying trusting God to provide. And that God will help Alex to show his "relevance to the company" by his work and initiative (relevance is the new buzz word being used by management basically meaning you have to justify your existence at work).
Thanks for your prayers. God hears and acts.
