I've always liked the story of the Ninevites praying to God and receiving compassion after hearing of their intended destruction. And admired our sister church in El Salvador watching them pray with passion. I hope to capture some of that here where we can share prayer requests. Shiends comes from when my kids were young and just starting to talk. They both had sleeping friends but couldn't say friends and kept saying "shiends". So "shiends" has been in our vocabulary ever since.
This may sound pathetic, but I have to post it. Yesterday I found a dead cat on the side of the road around the corner from our house. It looked very much like our cat Dasha, but without a collar. I'm now certain it was her. I don't know if it's just the cumulative effect of everything going on, but I'm really depressed and teary eyed about Dasha's death. I'm not sure what I will do when Ivan notices she's not around. Alex is a bit upset too and already wants to get another cat, because Dasha was the perfect lap cat, while our other 2 cats are a bit skittish. I'm not sure if a new cat would upset our already insecure other 2. Perhaps if we could find one that had the look & demeanor of Dasha at the shelter Ivan might not notice. Sigh. OK, God what are you trying to teach me about letting go of control?
ReplyDeletePam, it's not pathetic... I understand, it's like; what else is going to happen? And the cat, really God, the cat????? I empathize with you. I'll pray for you and your family's protection against whatever it is trying to get at you all right now. God, protect this family right now and give them comfort, strength in your name, safety, and health; Amen. The prayer tonight for you guys will be longer than that. :)
